What is the idealised picture of standardisation of information technology? And in what ways does practical standardisation often deviate from the ideal?
In order to realise to the fullest extent the value of some standard in the information technology field, in what way should standardisation work be performed? When deviations from the optimal path of some standardisation work occur, are such deviation the result of incompetent work, or of deliberate actions of some involved stakeholder, or of unintended human errors? How can a standardisation process be defined so that we increase the probability that a beneficial standard actually results?
