Summary:

What is the new HTML5, and what is its role in the Open Web Platform? And what new uses cases can now be supported by standardised web technologies?

This talk provides an overview of the spectrum of web technologies that is now emerging, and how they together create the Open Web Platform. The web is now entering new sectors of uses, and is provided on popular new devices, especially the mobile phones. These devices provide functionality that goes beyond the traditional web, and therefore new web technologies are being standardised, so that full device capability can be utilised by fully portable applications.

This is not restricted to the new mobile phone sector. Many other sectors are also being opened up for use of standardised web technologies -- automotive; TV; sensors; etc.
